LeBron James caused a frenzy in the sports world after his Los Angeles Lakers were eliminated from the NBA Playoffs this year.

For the first time, James seemed to openly contemplate retirement, saying that “going forward with the game of basketball, I’ve got a lot to think about.”

Sources later clarified that James doesn’t intend to retire quite yet, but the quote dominated much of the discussion around the sport – despite the Denver Nuggets winning the series against the Lakers and advancing to the NBA Finals.

Nuggets head coach Michael Malone seemed to take a playful jab at James following the team’s victory in those NBA Finals.

Michael Malone:

“Speaking of the Lakers, this is breaking news, I’m thinking about retiring,” Malone joked in an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.

Many NBA fans appeared to enjoy Malone’s comment.
