The New York Yankees are hosting the Seattle Mariners tonight, and they’ve invited a special guest.
Projected No. 1 overall pick in Thursday’s NBA Draft Victor Wembanyama is in town to take in the game – and throw out the first pitch.
The 7-foot-3 (7-foot-5 in shoes) basketball phenom seems to tower over everyone he meets, including the many fans asking for autographs and pictures in the Bronx on Tuesday afternoon.
Fans are amazed by Wembanyama’s appearance, and they said as much on social media.
“I hear this Victor guy has a little height on him. Wonder if he plays basketball,” one fan said.

“Look at Wemby’s shoes, they’re huge,” one fan said. Wembanyama wears a size 20 1/2 shoe, similar to the shoe sizes of Shaquille O’Neal and Yao Ming.

Wembanyama’s size is just one of the many reasons why he’s expected to go No. 1 overall to the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday.
He has an unseen combination of offensive ability and defensive proficiency that have some analysts calling him the greatest prospect since LeBron James.
It’s high praise for a 19-year-old, but Wembanyama has been receiving it for many years, dating back to when American scouts first took notice of him in France.
If basketball doesn’t work out, it seems that he may be able to take his talents to baseball given the reception he received on Tuesday.
