Lakers owner Jeanie Buss recently unveiled her list for the most important figures in franchise history. Legendary center Shaquille O’Neal didn’t make the cut.
In order, Buss had Kobe Bryant, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, LeBron James, Magic Johnson and Phil Jackson in her top five.
O’Neal offered his thoughts on this list on Instagram. He simply said, “whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.”
Most of Shaq’s fans ran over to Instagram to show their support. They also believe he was snubbed from the list.
“LeBron over Shaq as a Laker is so disrespectful knowing Shaq won 3 championships while Lebron has only won one for LA…,” one person commented.
Another person wrote, “I’m sorry but lebron AND Phil gotta come off that list…how is Phil on that list before Pat Riley? And how is lebron on that list before cats like Worthy, West, or Shaq?!? Prisoners of the moment for SURE…smh.”
“You should have been on that list FOR SURE,” a third person added.
LeBron James is undoubtedly a greater all-time player than O’Neal. Is he more important to the Lakers though? That’s the million-dollar question
