For the second time this week, ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith has fired off an absurd take about Nuggets star Nikola Jokic.
It all started when Smith crossed a line Tuesday by mocking Jokic’s physique.
“Listen, I understand that this big tub of lard that can’t jump on to a curb is unstoppable,” Smith said. “I love Nikola Jokic. It’s just unbelievable to watch him. He really is. [But] he ain’t harder to guard than Steph Curry.”
Then, on Thursday’s episode of “First Take,” Smith questioned Jokic’s skillset.
“Jokic isn’t known for having some kind of dominant post game now,” Smith wrongly said. “That’s not his game.”
Thankfully, JJ Redick and Jay Williams shut down this absurd comment from Smith.
Unsurprisingly, NBA fans are making sure Smith knows how wrong he was about Jokic’s post-up game.
I know pointing out that Stephen A doesn’t know ball isn’t a revolutionary thing, but this is downright ridiculous.
If you don’t recognize Jokic is an absurdly good post up player you just aren’t watching. There’s no other way to come to that conclusion https://t.co/YMMUIjNuzD

“ESPN doesn’t do sports coverage, they do sports sensationalism,” one fan responded.

“And then when he got corrected he couldn’t even just say ‘I was wrong’ lol he had to bring up a Shaq comparison,” a second fan tweeted.

“There’s usually not a JJ or Jay Williams in these shows to correct the nonsense and then every casual fan ends up parroting and believing the nonsense,” another fan wrote. “Big part of what’s wrong with today’s NBA. The media partners do a horrible job of educating fans on the product.”

Jokic’s post-up skills make the Nuggets’ half-court offense so efficient. Dismissing that part of his game is just foolish.
The Nuggets will be back in action Friday night for Game 4 of the NBA Finals. Smith may want to pay close attention to Jokic’s post-up game.
