Antetokounmpo expressed uncertainty about re-signing with the Bucks earlier this offseason, wanting to see if the team would continuing building a championship roster.
The Bucks answered the challenge, acquiring All-Star guard Damian Lillard from the Portland Trailblazers in a three-team trade. Antetokounmpo now rewards the organization by signing an extension.
ESPN’s Bobby Marks broke down the details on his new deal.
“Here is the breakdown on the Giannis extension in Milwaukee: 25-26 $57,604,893 26-27 $62,213,285 27-28 $66,821,676-Player Option The $57.6M salary in 2025-26 replaces a $51.5M player option. The extension is based on the salary cap increasing 10% in 2024-25 and 2025-26.”
Antetokounmpo, 28, averaged 31.1 points, 11.8 rebounds, 5.7 assists last season on 55 percent shooting from the field.
