The Grammy-winning singer hosted the “All Canadian North Stars” at the east-end venue, which featured performances from rapper Choclair; Canada’s “Queen of R&B” Jully Black; Canada’s Got Talent judge Kardinal Offishall; Crabbuckit hip-hop star k-os; Let Your Backbone Slide hitmaker Maestro Fresh Wes; Vancouver’s Rascalz and more. But fans were buzzing on social media about the surprise appearance of B.C.’s Furtado, who sang Promiscuous Girl and I’m Like A Bird.

“Thank goodness I’m a nice, humble, well-spoken — I like to deal with people the right way — because that’s the only way that you can get this next person out of the house to come do what they’re gonna do right now,” Drake told the crowd before Furtado, 43, took the stage for her first live performance since 2017.
“I don’t care how loud you sang tonight — right now I need you to sing as loud as you possibly can, because this right here, took a lot. This next person’s changed my life so much, I love her so much,” he continued.

Drake’s October World Weekend festivities promised to be a “a celebration of the music that paved the way for all of us” and continued with Chris Brown and Lil Baby playing a sold-out show at Budweiser Stage on Friday. Monday evening’s Young Money reunion show, which was slated to feature Drake, Nicki Minaj, and Lil Wayne, was postponed after the Hotline Bling vocalist contracted COVID.
“I am so sorry for letting you down on our weekend together and the moment I test negative I will give you everything I got on stage (except the Covid),” he wrote in an Instagram message.
