SAN FRANCISCO — A 39-year-old man was charged in federal court with possessing a loaded gun outside of an elementary school here, after a concerned teacher called police to report that he was acting erratically, according to court records.
Brandon Paillet was charged in October with being a felon in possession of a firearm, after he agreed to waive an indictment, court records show. He has pleaded not guilty; his next court date is set for mid-December.
The criminal complaint against Paillet says he was arrested last August after a teacher at New Traditions Elementary School on the 2000 block of Grove Street called 9-1-1 to report a man “holding his hand like there’s a gun” and punching cars. The caller told dispatchers the man appeared to be suffering from a mental illness, the complaint says.
When police responded they identified Paillet as the subject of the emergency call. He told police that he didn’t have any weapons, then took off his backpack and allegedly dropped a loaded .38-caliber revolver. Paillet was arrested and booked at San Francisco jail.
Paillet is in federal custody in Santa Rita Jail in Dublin on a no-bail hold. He has two prior federal convictions on his record, for selling cocaine base and possessing a gun, court records show.
