Sarah Ferguson is spending a lot of time in the United States of America at the moment, promoting her new book, A Most Intriguing Lady. The Duchess of York spoke to Access Hollywood where she was asked about her “favourite guilty junk food pleasure”, but it wasn’t the usual “ice cream or chocolate” as royal fans pointed out.
Sarah told the reporter: “OK, ready? Baked potato.” The reporter asked: “What do you put on it? Do you do the bacon, the sour cream, the butter?”
The Duchess nodded and said: “Butter.” But then, Sarah shocked the reporter by saying “mayonnaise”.
The reporter sounded surprised and added: “Mayonnaise? On your baked potato?” Fergie simply said: “Yeah, yeah! Mayonnaise, butter, cheese, and really crispy skin.”
The Duchess also added what she likes to eat on the side with her baked potatoes.

Sarah commented: “Oh and white baguette from France”, which she said is “next door” to her baked potato on the plate.
“French baguette, crispy, and boiled eggs,” Fergie told the reporter at the end of the interview.
Royal fans were shocked that Sarah considers baked potatoes, boiled eggs and baguettes to be “junk food”.
TikTok user @annbillings15 said: “Not junk food, people live on that!” In addition, @pollyandbailey commented: “So carbs are now junk food?”
Royal fan @dylankirby24 added: “Junk food to me is burgers, chocolate, fish and chips, crisps, etc.”
One fan, @lotty812 wrote: “So my weekday meal?” in response to Sarah’s admission of her “guilty junk food pleasure”.
Royal watcher @simplegalinny said: “Aw Sarah. I was expecting something different. You lost me at mayonnaise.”
TikTok account @proudmum_nh commented: “Ice cream and chocolate are junk food, not baked potato. Love Sarah though.”

However, many fans agreed with Fergie that a baked potato is delicious and a favourite food for many.

One fan, @user4301156097814 jokingly added: “She’d have a field day at my nanny’s house, we grew up on a sack of potatoes.”
Royal fan @thejamx commented: “Mayonnaise on a baked potato is amazing.”
TikTok account @user94234546042 agreed that baked potatoes are delicious and wrote: “I put A1 sauce or Heinz 57 on mine.”
Royal watcher @patriciahopping pointed out that mayonnaise on a potato is quite normal. They said: “Mayonnaise on a potato is not weird, don’t you all eat potato salad?”
Fergie has struggled with her weight in the past and was tormented in the 1980s and 1990s by the media.
However, the Duchess has gone through an incredible weight loss journey over the years and is a proponent of the ketogenic diet.
