McTominay’s goalscoring exploits may leave Erik ten Hag with something to consider ahead of the Red Devils’ return to action on Sunday.
Wout Weghorst has started all 19 games since joining on loan from Burnley in January but has scored just twice, missing chances in abundance.
Ten Hag’s No 39 could genuinely offer another option in attack if Weghorst fails to discover his scoring touch, with games set to come thick and fast again after the restart.
More eyes than usual will likely be on McTominay this weekend, with opponents Newcastle United reportedly interested in a summer swoop.
But Ten Hag blocked his exit in January, and he could do the same at the end of the season if he believes he has more to offer.
