Happy Thursday!
It’s a big week for entertainment news!
First up, the largest music festival in Southern California, the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, just announced its dates for 2024.
It seriously feels like we just left the Empire Polo Club, but you can purchase passes for next year at a discounted rate starting at 11 a.m. Friday, June 16. Passes are $100-$200 cheaper when purchased ahead of the lineup reveal (which usually comes in January) and historically tickets for Weekend One have sold out well in advance. Get all of the Coachella 2024 details and special pricing here.
???? Happy 30th Honda Center
Honda Center in Anaheim officially opened on June 17, 1993. It has since hosted so many concert tours and massive one-off performances. I took a super deep dive into the history of the venue and whipped up 30 of its biggest moments (though seriously I could have written about 60 more). Take a look at that list here.
What makes a venue great? The people. I chatted with five Honda Center employees who have been at the arena since the beginning. They all had amazing stories, but getting a private show by The Rolling Stones while you dance around with your mop? That’s legendary. Read more tales from 30 years here.
The arena is marking its 30th anniversary with a special concert headlined by Anaheim’s own Gwen Stefani later this year. Find out how to sign up for the presale and be the first to get tickets here.
???????? Dine, Sing and Dance at “Harry’s House”
Pop star Harry Styles sold out a record-setting 15 nights at Kia Forum in Inglewood last year, bringing his Love on Tour jaunt to the arena, which was appropriately renamed specifically for this occasion after his third studio album, “Harry’s House.”
He added more shows and wrapped up the tour earlier this year at Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert, celebrating his 29th birthday at the venue with a sold-out gig on Feb. 1.
Because apparently you can never have enough Harry, a “Harry’s House” pop-up dining experience is coming to downtown Los Angeles this summer. The immersive eatery will serve brunch and dinner, play all of Styles’ hits, provide plenty of backdrops and props for fans to pose for photos and guests are encouraged to show up in their finest Styles fashion. Find out how to make a reservation here.
???? Free Summer Concerts
Several free outdoor summer concert series are now launching all across Southern California.
If you’re in the Los Angeles area, check out the jazz, Latin, rock, hip-hop and pop shows at Levitt Pavilion in MacArthur Park. Reporter Richard Guzman has a full list of events here.
In Orange County, the OC Parks’ 2023 Summer Concert Series kicks off on Thursday, June 22 at Craig Regional Park in Brea with a performance by Paco Versailles. The events will take place in various OC Parks on Thursday evenings through Aug. 24. Reporter Holly Alvarado has a full list of events here.
