Happy Thursday!

We may be experiencing lower than normal temperatures and some June gloom, but things are heating up for the summer music festival season.

It’s a really busy weekend with lots of Pride events happening throughout Southern California including LA Pride in the Park, which will feature headlining sets by Megan Thee Stallion and Mariah Carey on June 9-10. Tickets are still available for the festival and reporter Holly Alvarado rounded up all the event details here.

This weekend also marks the kickoff of the three-weekend Splash House concert series in Palm Springs. The event is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year and taking over the Renaissance, Margaritaville and Saguaro resorts and hosting after-parties at the Palm Springs Air Museum on June 9-11; Aug. 11-13; and Aug. 18-20.

The first installment will feature sets by Armand Van Helden, Chelina Manuhutu, Chromeo (DJ Set), Dennis FerrerGORDO, Heidi Lawden b2b Masha Mar, HoneyLuv, Purple Disco Machine and others. Get the full lineup and ticket information here.

Personally, I’ll be out covering the return of Orange County metal band Avenged Sevenfold at Kia Forum in Inglewood on Friday and the LA Phil 2023 season kick off with Janet Jackson and Ludacris at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on Saturday. Look out for highlights, full reviews and photos from both of those shows in the newsletter next week.

???? Festivals! Festivals! Festivals!

We’re nearly halfway through 2023, but there are still so many festival events on the schedule through the end of the year. Holly Alvarado took a look at all the major music festivals happening in the area and came up with 27 in Southern California and a handful of other festivals happening just outside of our area, but would be worth the drive. Get the full list here.

Last week, rapper Tyler, The Creator announced the return of his Camp Flog Gnaw Festival, which will be back at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles for the first time since 2019. Here’s what we know so far.

Brew Ha Ha Productions revealed the lineup for its inaugural pop rock and emo Is for Lovers Festival, which is curated by rock band Hawthorne Heights. The show will take place on Aug. 26 at Oak Canyon Park in Silverado. Get the full lineup and find out how to purchase passes here.
