MANILA, Philippines—Letran notched a victory over long-time rival San Beda, 72-64, in the Filoil EcoOil Preseason Cup at San Juan Arena on Monday.

Kurt Reyson fueled the Knights, who are now holding a 4-1 record in the preseason, with 20 points and eight assists while former University of Santo Tomas cager Deo Cuajao helped the cause with 15 to his name.

“’I’m happy with this win. I’m happy with my players and how they all stepped up,” coach Rensy Bajar said in Filipino.

The Red Lions, who dropped to a 1-3 card, were led by Zane Jalbuena after finishing with 17 points and seven rebounds but to no avail.

La Salle, meanwhile, overcame National University, 107-86, thanks to another masterclass by Kevin Quiambao.

Quiambao showcased his scoring prowess after tallying 22 to his name while Mark Nonoy added 16 and four rebounds to keep the Green Archers unblemished after six games.

The Bulldogs (1-1) turned to bruiser big man Omar John who almost had a near double-double in a losing effort with 17 markers and nine boards.

In other games, College of St. Benilde dealt Arellano a 94-83 defeat behind the tandem of Robi Nayve and Migs Oczon.

The guard duo unloaded a shooting masterclass with 19 points each to power the Blazers to a 4-2 card.

Lars Sunga was the silver lining for the Chiefs with 24 markers but they still tallied their second loss in as many games.

St. Clare continued to show promise after taking a 65-55 victory over Centro Escolar University.

Ryan Sual dominated for the Saints with 23 markers and six rebounds as they improved to a 4-1 slate.

Jayson Puray top scored for the Scorpions (1-4) with 11 points and four boards.
