Atlantis is well-known for its terrifyingly fun water rides, a very mellow lazy river, and cool dolphin adventures. Having spent several happy vacation days with my family at the Bahamas outpost, I recently had the opportunity to visit the Dubai location. Following an expansion in 2021, Atlantis, The Palm is now a third bigger than before, making it one of the world’s largest water parks. The new additions have added attractions for kids of all ages and adults with different thrill profiles.
The new sections include Trident Tower, Splashers Lagoon and Splashers Cove, making Atlantis home to 28 additional water adventures. Visitors can now enjoy over 105 slides, rides and attractions, spread across the 22.5-hectare park. These new additions are designed to create an even more thrilling experience. The aptly named, “Odyssey of Terror,” is the world’s tallest waterslide with a Double TornadoWAVE®. Shockwave is the longest family rafting water coaster in the world and Medusa’s Lair is the first dueling PIPElineBLAST® Water Coaster slide in the region allowing you to blast through a series of dark caves, steep slopes and drops as you race your friends to the finish. Immortal Falls is your chance to experience gravity-defying cliff jumps as you leap down the falls.
Splashers Lagoon has tamer options and includes the Middle East’s first six-lane KIDZ ProRACER® and the first KIDZ TORNADO 24® slide in the Middle East. And Splashers Cove provides non-stop splashing fun and the world’s first KIDZ RallyRACER®. While trying something new is always fun, guests can still enjoy their old favorites: the Leap of Faith, the Raging Rapids and the Hydra Racer. The new expansion means that Aquaventure rarely feels crowded and there were almost no lines on the day I visited.
After you have had your fill of adventures, you can enjoy the private beach, motorized and non-motorised watersports and 26 marine experiences. The Lost Chamber Aquarium is home to 65,000 marine animals, including sharks, rays and a stunning assortment of fish. The floor to ceiling windows provide a terrific viewing experience. However, you can also jump into the Aquarium by signing up for a “Shark Snorkel” or the “Ultimate Snorkel” and actually swim with your favorite sea creatures. After donning our wetsuits, our group headed to the top of the Aquarium where we jumped in with our snorkel gear and enjoyed swimming with the fish and becoming one with the Aquarium.
Guests can also scuba dive in the Lost Chamber Aquarium, swim with the dolphins or spend time with the resident sea lions. After an adventurous day, you can choose between over 20 dining choices, ranging from Nobu to Gordon Ramsay’s Street Pizza.
