First Al Dhaid Charity Marathon kicks off Saturday

SHARJAH, 3rd February, 2023 (WAM) — The first Al Dhaid Charity Marathon will kick off tomorrow, Saturday, at 07:00 at Al Dhaid Cultural Club, under the motto “Movement is Life”.

Organised by the Friends of Arthritis Patients (FAP) of the Health Promotion Department (HPD) at the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah, in cooperation with Al Dhaid Cultural and Sports Club, the charity marathon aims to attract wide participation.

It will raise awareness of arthritis, and promote physical activity, in addition to supporting arthritis patients and motivating them to pursue healthy lifestyles by maintaining daily physical activity. The marathon also aims at promoting tourist attractions in the central area.

The event will include many sports, awareness, and entertainment activities providing free medical examination and consultations, as well as leaflets about health issues. Health experts and specialists will also be there to give tips on the importance of healthy habits and introduce simple exercises. Furthermore, there will be sports competitions, and cash and in-kind prizes will be given away to the winners.

The marathon will have four categories for various age groups starting from eight. The fifth category will also include subcategories such as the oldest and youngest competitor, the best family, the largest participating government authority, the largest participating private organisation, and the largest participating school.
