First Dates star Merlin Griffiths, 48, gave his 138,000 Instagram followers a no holds barred update on his health after undergoing a “difficult” colonoscopy check-up.
Fortunately, the Channel 4 star received some good news after his ordeal.
The First Dates barman revealed he is now “clear” amid his battle with bowel cancer while sharing selfies from his hospital bed.
Merlin wrote: “Scroll across… 1 year colonoscopy check up for #bowelcancer ;
“Prep was soo difficult this time. Soiled the bed several times overnight, resorted to adult nappies, got about 2 hours kip.

“Felt like hell. First one with my newly connected a*** too (sans rectum), so I was a little nervous.
“But along with my last blood tests (clear), at one year examination, we’re clear! Phew.
“Next one at 3 years (2025). Last one at 5 years (2027). #bowelcancerawarenessmonth.
“Love to all you fellow bowel cancer peeps, keep on keeping on!” He concluded.
Merlin’s First Dates co-star Fred Sirieix was one of the first to congratulate him on his health news, commenting with a red love heart emoji.
A fan added: “Great news – your honesty and frankness is a credit to you.”
A third person agreed: “Such great news. Thank you for continuing to raise awareness and your positive attitude.”
A fourth empathised with Merlin: “The prep is awful. So glad you have good news x.”
