Five Pairs Of Antique And Vintage Diamond Earrings To Add To Your Jewelry Collection

All women have a favorite pair of diamond earrings that they tend to wear more than others. But if you are an antique or vintage jewelry enthusiast and have a desire to change up your look, there are many different styles and periods from which to choose. While we might be enticed by pairs of chandelier or ultra long linear earrings, they work best for for special occasions or evening events. The styles that we can wear with our daily rotations offer the charm, character and glow of 19th-century old cut diamonds or early 20th fancy cuts in single, drop, pendant and on-the-ear styles.

Here are five styles from five different time periods that each offer a different look and offer an everyday appeal:

GEORGIAN

Estate Diamond Jewelry’s rose cut diamond is set in cut back collet settings of silver over gold with gold ear wires and are representative of the single drop (dormeuse) earrings of the time period, circa 1830. These are handmade and although the diamonds have a distinct personality, they are the perfect size to allow the wearer’s individual style to shine through

VICTORIAN

Fred Leighton’s Victorian old mine diamond single drop earrings from decorative filigree 18K yellow gold mountings, circa 1890s. The soft shimmer of the diamonds and the glimmer of the yellow gold will add a soft glow around your face.

EDWARDIAN/BELLE EPOQUE

Gray & Davis’ Belle Epoque diamond earrings for the true romantic who prefers a delicate more detailed earring. These are designed with garlands of diamonds and pearls, floating around two pear-shaped brilliant cuts, circa 1890 – 1900s.

ART DECO

Bentley & Skinner’s Art Deco diamond drop earrings, each with a brilliant-cut diamond and diamond-set openwork top, suspended from a flexible run of baguette and brilliant-cut diamonds, set in platinum, circa 1930. These offer a little more in length than the rest of the earrings featured but not so much that you couldn’t just put them on and go.

RETRO

Kentshire’s pair of retro diamond crescent-shaped clip earrings with graduated old European cut, baguette, and single cut diamonds in palladium, circa 1942, look as modern today as when they were first designed
