A stewardess has taken the internet by storm with her best-kept travel secrets to ensure travelers have a hassle-free experience every time they stay at a hotel.
Esther Sturrus, a 22-year-old flight attendant with a 180k-strong army of followers on TikTok, has divulged some of the best tips she’s learned over the course of her career.
Her recent clip, where she shares the top things to remember while abroad, has racked up more than one million views and more than 52,000 likes.
How to bag cheaper tickets
A money-saving trick that has gained a lot of traction in recent years is to search for flights on a private browser, to prevent airfares from increasing.
When checking for flight prices on a particular site and returning to it after some time, viewers are likely to be met with higher rates.
“The companies know how often you visit their site and will typically raise the price because of your frequent visits,” Esther claimed, adding: “Therefore, but using private browsing, nothing can be tracked or traced.”
Charge your handset devices through your TV
The hack, described by Esther as one of the “most innovative” she knows, could potentially help many people in a predicament with their charging devices.
“This is extremely helpful if you forgot or lost your wall plug from your charger,” Esther said.
All you need to do is a cable that can connect both your handset or tablet and the TV’s USB port, which will act as a charging circuit.
Leave your shoes inside a safe
This simple trick is designed to remind travelers not to leave valuable possessions behind, because if there’s anything one needs when leaving their hotel room; it’s their shoes.
Esther said: “This way you will never forget anything from your safe. You will notice when you want to leave that you are missing a show, it’s also quite a funny one!”
Soak a small towel when you arrive at your hotel
“Being on planes means you always suffer from the dry air. And it is not nice if you also have dry air in your hotel room,” explained the travel expert.
“So another big tip of mine is, when you arrive at your accommodation, soak a small towel and place it in front of the idea.”
The heat of radiators will release steam from a wet towel to humidify the hotel room, which can counter the drying effects of central heating.
“Soak a small towel and place t front of the heater,” she explained, adding: “That water evaporates and in a small hotel room that can bring just a little relief.”
How to make space in your luggage
By far the most efficient packing trick is to roll garments instead of simply folding them, as this squeezes the air from between the folds and frees up more space in the carrier.
“It always seems kills there’s never enough room in your luggage when packing for a great journey. However, one of the top travel hacks for packing is to roll your clothes instead of folding them.”
