Floyd Mayweather’s latest exhibition fight ended with a major brawl inside the ring after his opponent John Gotti III continued to throw punches after the contest had ended.
Mayweather appeared to be on course for another comfortable exhibition bout at the FLA Live Arena in Sunrise, Florida, as he coasted through the first five rounds and landed punches on Gotti III with ease.
The pair trash-talked throughout the fight, while referee Kenny Bayless had a difficult job trying to separate the two fighters when they clinched.
But early in the sixth round, Bayless stepped in and waved the fight off as Mayweather and Gotti III refused to stop their verbal exchange.
Gotti III, who is the grandson of the infamous mob boss John Gotti from the Gambino crime family, was irate with the decision and kept on swinging punches at Mayweather.
Gotti III’s reaction then triggered a huge melee as both entourages swarmed the ring.
Mayweather was eventually escorted back to his dressing room by several members of his team as scuffles broke out from the ring into the crowd.
In a series of messages on Instagram after the fight, Gotti III called Mayweather an ‘enemy for life’.
He added: “Bum never put me down or stopped me it was a DQ for no reason.”
