Floyd Mayweather boasts of earning $100m for “fake fight”

Floyd Mayweather will return to the ring next month for a massive exhibition bout on top of the massive Burj Al Arab Jumeirah hotel in Dubai.

And while he has not yet named an opponent for his February 20 match-up, he has indicated talks are underway for him to face Middle Eastern social media influencer Rashed ‘Money Kicks’ Belhasa.

The 50-0 former pound-for-pound great has insisted the bout is not a fight, and that he instead would rather it be referred to as a “boxing showcase”.

So it is possible that Mayweather could once again tap into the YouTube boxing scene to find his next opponent.

He retired from the sport in 2017 after facing UFC legend Conor McGregor in his 50th professional bout, and has participated in two exhibitions since against Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa and YouTuber Logan Paul.

Here’s all you need to know about ‘Money Kicks’…

Who is Money Kicks?

Rashed Belhasa, who goes by the YouTube username ‘Money Kicks’, has been called one of Dubai’s “richest kids”.

The 19-year-old social media star is the son of construction mogul Saif Belhasa, one of the most successful business men in the United Arab Emirates, and has known wealth for his whole life.

Saif Belhasa owns the Belhasa group of Companies, which is said to have over 23 establishments under their umbrella, and his net worth is reported to be in the billions.

‘Money Kicks’ has two siblings, Abdulla and Mayed. His birthday is January 5, meaning he turns 20 this week.

YouTube career

Belhasa began his social media career in June 2013 at the age of 11, and has grown his following to 3.21million subscribers on the platform.

He has also amassed over two million followers on Instagram and Twitter, and almost a quarter of a million on TikTok.

The YouTube star began by making videos showing off his exorbitant wealth including a collection of shoes worth millions as well as a fleet of cars, which he couldn’t legally drive until recently.

He recently made the switch to boxing, having befriended the likes of Anthony Joshua, Logan Paul and Mayweather himself during his years as a social media star.

Boxing career

‘Money Kicks’ holds an boxing ‘record’ of 2-0, having headlined the two Social Knockout events that took place last year at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai.

The social media star was taken the distance by Anas Elshayib in his first bout back in July, before knocking out Ajmal Khan at the second show months later.

Prior to the Mayweather talks, he had been going back-and-forth with fellow YouTuber Faze Jarvis about a possible boxing match, after the Brit brutally stopped Michael Le last June.

He has also recently invited interest in a fight from American Tik Tok star Bryce Hall, who is searching for redemption after being stopped by Austin McBroom last month.

Belhasa’s talks with Mayweather’s team became public back in October when he told Lovin’ Dubai that there was interest in an exhibition.

“Next, you never know, may be Floyd,” he said when asked for his future boxing plans.

“Talks are happening between me and Floyd Mayweather [for a bout] in the region, in Dubai.”

And those talks are still ongoing, with Mayweather saying at a recent press conference that he is interested in the YouTuber.

“I spoke with James McNair [Mayweather’s advisor] about Money Kicks,” Mayweather said at a media event on New Years’ Eve.

“We don’t really know, I think since he’s from here it would be great, it’s going to be a very special crowd, not too many people.

“So if you get a chance to come here, you must know that you’re very, very special for this event.

“But the kid Money Kicks is doing great things and I’m liking what I’ll see.”

And he replied in an Instagram post, saying: “I’m ready if you are! Let’s make sure the bag is right.”

Money Kicks and Mayweather’s history

The pair first met back in 2017, when the boxing star visited Belhasa’s family’s private zoo in Dubai.

They filmed a YouTube video together, where they were both celebrating big milestones in their respective careers.

Mayweather had just made hundreds of millions of dollars for his final boxing match against Conor McGregor, going 50-0 after decades on top of the sport.

And ‘Money Kicks’ had just hit one million subscribers on his YouTube channel.

However, they don’t appear to have been particularly friendly since, and Belhasa is close with the boxing legend’s former opponent Logan Paul.
