Following the announcement a mysterious band – called The Churnups – would be joining the line-up, the internet was awash with theories as to who it may but now, fans think they’ve cracked it.
A handwritten note appeared on the band’s Twitter account as an attached photo and supporters of the Under You hitmakers read it as their official confirmation they were on their way to Worthy Farm.
The note said: ‘Hey. It’s been a while… Now that we’ve returned from our first run of shows, I felt compelled to reach out and thank you all for being there for us.
‘Every night, when I see you singing, it makes me sing harder. When I see you screaming, it makes me scream louder.
‘When I see your tears, it brings me to tears. And when I see your joy, it brings me joy.
‘But, I see you… and it feels good to see you, churning up these emotions together. Because we’ve always done this together. Time and time again. See you soon, David.’
Fans immediately speculated the message was a hint the Seattle natives were joining the Glastonbury ranks.
One penned on Twitter: ‘There’s a mystery act playing Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage this year, listed only as “The ChurnUps”. A couple of hours ago, @foofighters posted this… [sic],’ with the side-eye emoji.
Another account suggested: ‘This weekend you made me very happy, I didn’t think I would see you again, but you came back. And I’m grateful for being able to see u again and look you in the eyes again see u at @glastonbury? I really hope so, can’t wait to churn up more emotions with you! [sic].’
‘Foo fighters you absolutely rock and it’s a beautiful thing please get this amazing album to number one everybody! And OMG you might be playing at Glastonbury!,’ was a social media user’s reaction to the note.
It was the phrase, ‘churning up these emotions together’ that sparked confirmation rumours that the American rockers would be stepping onto the Pyramid stage to fill the slot of the mystery musicians.
