The Fordham Rams and Dayton Flyers will face-off in the second of two semifinal matchups in the Atlantic 10.
The winner will take on the victory between VCU and Saint Louis for the A10 Championship on Sunday.
Fordham and Dayton finished the regular season with the same 12-6 conference record, but the Flyers were the winning team in their regular season matchup. The game ended in a blowout, with Dayton winning by a final score of 82-58.
Will we see a repeat result in the rematch? Let’s dive into the odds and then I’ll give you my best bet.
Fordham vs. Dayton odds, spread, and total
Fordham vs. Dayton prediction and pick
Instead of betting on a side in this game, I think the smartest bet to make is on the total. I’m going to look to back the UNDER in this spot.
Both teams in this matchup are significantly better on their own side of the court. For example, they rank 245th and 253rd in effective field goal percentage, but 12th and 19th in defensive efficiency.
Also, styles make fights in college basketball, and Dayton is well suited to shut down Fordhams, biggest strength, which is their three point shooting. The Flyers rank fourth in the country in opponent three point field goal percentage, keeping teams to shooting just 28.7% from beyond the arc against them.
Finally, it’s worth noting that Dayton plays at a snails pace. The Flyers rank 344th in the country in field goal attempts per game.
So, we have bad offenses, good defenses, and a slow pace of play. With all of those factors added up, it sure sounds like an UNDER bet to me.
