Aaron Ramsey still hasn’t returned to his club Nice nearly a month after Wales were knocked out of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The Arsenal icon joined the French club in the summer after his contract with Juventus was terminated and departed for the Middle East at the start of the November as part of Rob Page’s 26-man squad.
Ramsey has been a crucial part of the Welsh national team since his debut way back in 2008, but had the tournament to forget as his country crashed out in the group stage.
After a decent 1-1 draw with the USA, Wales lost late on to Iran before being thrashed by rivals England, and finished the finals as the only team to fail to score from open play.
While very few players came out of their three games with much credibility but Ramsey’s performances came under particular scrutiny and marked a rapid decline for a player who was once so influential under Arsene Wenger.
Given their early exit, the Welsh players returned back to their clubs just a couple of weeks after leaving for Qatar but it has been revealed that Ramsey is yet to report back for Nice.
‘No, he didn’t come back,’ Nice manager Lucien Favre said in his pre-match press conference on Tuesday as the club prepares for its Ligue 1 return against Lens on Thursday. reporters.
‘I think the World Cup was hard for him to digest. We’ll see after.
‘He was very disappointed with the World Cup. He takes his time to really recover.’
Wales’ elimination at the hands of England was on November 29th meaning that Ramsey, who celebrated his 32nd birthday on Boxing Day, has now had almost a month exactly to recover from Qatar 2022.
It has been a difficult year for the midfielder whose loan spell at Rangers ended in infamy when his penalty shootout miss cost the Scottish side in the Europa League final back in May.
Ramsey has started just five league games so far this season, recording just one goal and one assist.
At Arsenal, he won three FA Cups before joining Juventus on a free in 2019 where he won the Serie A title in his first season.
