
Alexey Shved, a Russian-born former NBA player, was attacked outside of a Moscow restaurant on Monday night, per TMZ Sports.
The 34-year-old basketball player “suffered a serious head injury as a result of the fall” and was hospitalized after the incident. He was transported to the hospital by ambulance and is now on the road to recovery.
Shved once suited up in the NBA with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Philadelphia 76ers, Houston Rockets, and New York Knicks. He now plays guard for CSKA Moscow of the VTB United League.
Wearing a neck brace, Shved posed for a photo with some teammates and coaches who came to visit him in the hospital.

Shved contacted the police, who are currently investigating the incident. He will be unable to participate in his team’s next round of games.
Shved last suited up for the Knicks during the 2014-15 NBA season, averaging 14.8 points per game through 16 contests. He’s averaging 17.0 points and 7.8 assists per game with CSKA Moscow this season.
