Lamar Odom accomplished a lot during his NBA career.
He was named the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year in 2011, made the All-Rookie team in 2000 and won back-to-back championships with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2009 and 2010.
Following his playing career, Odom has been known more for his appearances on reality television and his personal life.
He’s starting a new business, and he says it’s inspired by his grandmother.

According to TMZ Sports, the former Lakers star is partnering with Regency Palms Senior Living in Oxnard and Long Beach, California to start Odom Senior Care. The new business will provide affordable care to seniors living in or near those areas.
Odom says that the inspiration for the partnership is his 96-year-old grandmother, Florence, who’s lived in the same home in the Bronx for 70 years.
Odom ran into issues while trying to find a new home for his grandmother, and he learned that many senior living spaces were simply too expensive.
The former NBA player’s goal is to expand to 1,000 communities with pre-negotiated price rates for seniors to live in, and he says he’d like to reach that goal by the end of the year.
Odom certainly has an uphill battle ahead of him to accomplish that, but for anyone who has followed his life and career, they’ll know this isn’t the first time he’s been faced with adversity.
