The New York Knicks defeated the Miami Heat on Wednesday to push their Eastern Conference semifinal series to a Game 6. After the win, Knicks star Julius Randle found his wife and children in the crowd and celebrated with them.
Many fans likely saw this as a feel-good moment after an emotional win to keep the team’s season alive, but not former NBA player Kenyon Martin.

“I saw something at the end of the game last night, and it bothered me,” Martin said on an episode of Gilbert Arenas’ podcast.
“We just got done playing a hard-fought game in a playoff series and the first thing you do is go kiss your wife.”
Martin went on to explain that he took issue with Randle seeking out his family instead of his teammates or the home crowd. He then said that he believes Randle did this because his family is currently his only support system due to falling out of favor with teammates and fans,
“I could only imagine what else is going on for people to feel that way,” Martin said.
The rest of the hosts on the podcast seemed to agree with Martin’s assessment, with Arenas also assuming that Randle sought out his family as a means of comfort.
We’ll see what Randle does if the Knicks are able to force a Game 7 with a win on Friday night.
