Former Rangers and Aberdeen coach Tommy Moller Nielsen has died aged 61.
The Ibrox club have led the tributes to the respected coach and talent scout, who was appointed first team coach by the late Walter Smith at the club in May 1997.
Rangers said: “All at Rangers FC are saddened to hear of the passing of our former first-team coach, Tommy Moller Nielsen, at the age of 61.”
He was part of the coaching staff that helped Advocaat’s Gers reclaim the league title in 1999 before moving to Aberdeen to become assistant manager to fellow Dane Ebbe Skovdahl.
He quit Pittodrie to become a manager in his own right, and would go on to manage clubs including Viborg and HB Koge.
The 61-year-old, who had been working for Manchester United as a talent scout for the past seven years, was the son of Denmark’s most successful manager of all time – Euro 1992 winning boss Richard Moller Nielsen.
