Former two-weight UFC champion Henry Cejudo has promised to beat Jake Paul “for free” if he makes a comeback to fight Alex Volkanovski at UFC 272.
Volkanovski was set to defend his featherweight title in a trilogy fight against Max Holloway at UFC 272, but one day after the fight was announced Holloway pulled out due to an injury.
Several top 145-pound contenders such as Chan Sung Jung and Yair Rodriguez have offered to replace Holloway on the card, with Cejudo also wanting a piece of the Australian.
Cejudo announced his retirement from MMA after defending his bantamweight title against Dominick Cruz in 2020, but has hinted at a comeback on several occasions.
And he urged UFC boss Dana White to let him fight Volkanovski, whilst taking a pop at Paul.
“Hey Dana White Pay me to fight Alex and I’ll beat up Jake Paul for free,” Cejudo wrote on Twitter.
Cejudo is still under UFC contract despite retiring from professional competition and with White stating he would “never” work with Paul, a fight between the pair is unlikely.
And he later doubled down on his call out of Volkanovski, writing: “Hey Dana White give me a shot at Alex. I would never cancel. I’m Mexican and we don’t believe in pulling out of anything.”
Paul would have a massive size advantage over Cejudo in a potential fight, being nine inches taller and competing 60lbs heavier than him.
Cejudo has been impressed by Paul’s meteoric rise in boxing and thinks his two fights against Tyron Woodley have made him a star.
“Jake Paul, whether we hate him or love him, the dude has taken this by storm and if you really think about it man, Tyron Woodley is making this dude into a star,” he told The Schmo.
“Made him into a star because of the simple fact that he beat a former UFC champion.”

Paul outpointed Woodley in their first meeting last August and later knocked out the ex-UFC champion in their rematch.
The 24-year-old has teased a move to MMA this week by posting a video of him training leg kicks, captioned: “First day training kicks. Doubted every step of the way.. but kick down the doors of the doubters.”
He also tagged Bellator and PFL in the tweet, hinting at a fight for either of the MMA promotions down the line.
But Paul is unlikely to return to any sort of professional competition anytime soon as he is currently on a seven-month hiatus from fighting.
‘The Problem Child’ fought four times in less than a year, knocking out Nate Robinson and Ben Askren before his wins over Woodley.
