Fortnite fans are counting down to the launch of Chapter 4, Season 3. Titled ‘Fortnite Wilds’, the new season has a June 9 release date on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC, Android and Nintendo Switch. Of course, a new season coincides with the release of a big update, not to mention a period of extended server downtime. According to Epic Games, the servers will be taken offline for maintenance at 7am BST UK time on the morning of June 9. Matchmaking will be disabled at around 6.30am BST.
The news was announced by Epic Games on Twitter, alongside confirmation that patch sizes will be bigger than usual.
“The Wilds await…” reads an Epic tweet. “Downtime for Fortnite WILDS begins at 2 AM ET, with matchmaking being disabled shortly before.
“Please note patch sizes will be larger than usual for some platforms.”
In addition to increased file sizes, expect servers to remain offline for longer than usual. The servers are likely to come back online at around 10am BST UK time, although nothing has been confirmed.
