Another Star Wars crossover has just landed in Fortnite, not only adding several characters from the prequel trilogy but also bringing back lightsabers.

Only a few days ahead of May 4, known as Star Wars Day (because May the 4th Be With You), Fortnite has released yet another crossover event with the franchise.

This time the special, called Find The Force, focuses on the prequel trilogy, meaning that you can find new skins for Anakin Skywalker, Padmé, and even Darth Maul, among others, in the Fortnite shop.

Of course, lightsabers couldn’t be missing from the event, so here’s where to find them all and how to use them to block shots from opponents.

Keep an eye on the ground, as lightsabers are scattered across the island as floor loot. These glowing golden items may appear small, but you can easily spot them from a distance due to their sheen.

You can also obtain lightsabers by opening special, Star Wars-themed chests, called Republic Chests.

They can be found at Clone Trooper Checkpoints spread across the island, but be careful as others might have the same idea as you, and you could run into a lot of competition at these checkpoints.

As always, you can also loot lightsabers from fallen opponents, so if you spot someone carrying one, why not challenge them and steal theirs?

That’s not all, as you can also get special lightsabers belonging to some of your favourite characters from Rift Encounters, that also grants you the latest Force abilities.

How to block shots using a lightsaber in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2

Lightsabers are a melee weapon in Fortnite, meaning they’re most effective in close proximity combat.

You can use them to defend yourself against melee attacks but also longer range shots.

To complete a quest in the Find The Force event, you must block shots with a lightsaber, which is pretty easy as long as you get the timing right.

Simply press the ‘aim’ button on your controller or keyboard when an opponent attacks you, and your lightsaber will automatically block the shots.

Having a gun as a backup option – and the high ground – is always recommended when using lightsabers in Fortnite, due to their somewhat limited capabilities.

What special lightsaber types are in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2?

There are currently three lightsabers available to find in Fortnite, inspired by ones from the prequel trilogy.

Unfortunately, Darth Maul’s iconic double-bladed lightsaber is still missing from the game, as he’s seen wielding a halberd instead.

From Obi-Wan Kenobi you’ll receive a green Jedi Padawan lightsaber, and from Anakin Skywalker you’ll receive a blue one. From Darth Maul you’ll receive a red Sith Apprentice lightsaber.

In total, seven lightsabers have appeared in Fortnite from all the films. Here are all the vaulted lightsabers that we’re hoping might make a return, as happened last year:

  • Darth Vader’s red lightsaber
  • Rey’s blue lightsaber
  • Kylo Ren’s red crossguard lightsaber
  • Mace Windu’s purple lightsaber

All lightsabers have the same performance and can be found at random, meaning you’ll need to keep your eyes peeled while roaming the island.
