For 16 years, Jeff Van Gundy was a key member of ESPN’s primetime NBA coverage. Now, he’ll be looking for work.
On Friday, Van Gundy was let go of by the network along with a number of other pillars of its broadcasts. And according to Andrew Marchand and Ryan Glasspiegel of the New York Post, there are four names being floated as possible JVG replacements.

Per the Post:
Internally, JJ Redick, Doris Burke and Richard Jefferson are the most likely candidates. Doc Rivers could be an outside choice; especially if his salary demands are offset by what the Sixers still owe him after firing him as their coach.
The outlet also notes the close relationship Rivers has with ESPN’s Mike Breen, which could also play a role in his potential hiring.
Replacing Jeff Van Gundy will be no easy task for the Worldwide leader, but its something they’ll attempt to do ahead of the 2023-24 basketball season.
