Freddie Mercury photo from 50 years ago ‘awakened deep feelings’ in Brian May

It’s been over 50 years since Queen first formed and went on to be one of the biggest bands in rock history.

In 1974, the band first charted in the UK with their second album Queen II before going on to have worldwide success.

Now Sir Brian May has come across a photograph of himself with Freddie Mercury from around that incredible transition period.

The 75-year-old guitar legend, who is very active on social media, shared the snap admitting that it profoundly moved him.

This came up when he was simply looking over a picture that someone sent him to sign.

The photo in question captures Freddie and Brian in the back of a car dressed up as the rock stars they had become, presumably ready to perform.

The guitar legend captioned the post: “Just an ordinary day …. around 1974, I’m guessing. À propos of nothing, really, except somebody sent me this picture to sign, and it’s awakened deeply nostalgic feelings in me. I understand the photo credit may be to Chris Walter. And that ahi may be 1975 ! Thanks ! Bri.”
