From Claremont to Hollywood: The rise of Adelaide Kane

Perth actor Adelaide Kane has risen through the TV and film industry ranks which led the Claremont-born star to Hollywood’s most famous ER in the newest season of Grey’s Anatomy.

Here’s everything you need to know about our homegrown star making it big.

WHO

The 32-year-old describes herself in her Instagram bio as “Just another Aussie living in Los Angeles” searching for Vegemite.

Kane grew up in Perth’s leafy western suburbs in the affluent area of Claremont, born to a Scottish father and Australian mother who divorced when she was seven-years-old.

Some might know Kane from an early role on Teen Wolf, but she has since grown a following after her role in the American period drama, Reign, as Mary, Queen of Scots, as well as for her candid goofy TikTok presence.

HUMBLE BEGINNINGS

In 2006 Kane entered and won a talent contest, sponsored by Dolly magazine, which gave her the chance to be cast as Lolly Allen in the beloved soap opera Neighbours.

To pursue her showbiz career, she left St Hilda’s Anglican School for Girls at 16-years-old and soon moved to Melbourne with her mother.

In 2009 from March to December, Kane moved to New Zealand to portray Tenaya 7 on Power Rangers RPM.

At the ripe age of 19, she relocated to LA where she has since had main roles in hit TV shows and movies including Teen Wolf, Reign, Once Upon A Time and now Grey’s Anatomy as Jules Millin, forming part of the new cast of interns.

Kane told Nylon that landing the Grey’s gig was her “dream job”, not only for its history as a long-running primetime series, but because the show is good to its actors.

DATING LIFE

After two failed relationships with male co-stars, Kane revealed in a TikTok video in February last year that she is bisexual.

“Me super nervous to come out publicly as bisexual to the people in my life & social media,” she said.

Two months later, Kane started dating Dutch model Marthe Woertman but it’s believed they broke up a year later.

But not before the couple appeared on the cover of Elle Netherlands in an intimate shot for a story on their love life.
