The Pandya brothers had a financial crisis in their lives and Hardik revealed how much they had to struggle during that time. Hardik confirmed he used to eat only Maggi for survival at one stage of his teenage days.
“My diet used to be Maggi. I was a fan of it and even the situation demanded so. I actually used to eat Maggi day and night,” Hardik said in an interview.
Hardik also said people used to misunderstand their financial struggle as they had a car. But the player revealed that his now late father had major heart attacks just after buying the car.
“My father was the only earning person at home. He suffered a heart attack – not one but two and that too within one night. He almost got another attack six months later, but we were glad we reached the hospital in time. The financial problems started at that time … we had no savings and perhaps we spent more than what we earned,” he added.
In a separate interview, Hardik’s older brother Krunal Pandya also revealed his brother’s love for Maggi and jokingly urged the fast food brand to make Hardik their brand ambassador.
“Maggi should consider making Hardik their brand ambassador. The amount of Maggi he has eaten no one else in India would have eaten as much,” Krunal said.
Incidentally, Maggi noticed that and later sent an entire box of Maggi to Hardik Pandya. The all-rounder has reached great heights in his career and is tipped to be India’s next captain in the T20I format.
It is quite an irony that Hardik keeps himself away from Maggi because of fitness reasons. But the two-minute noodles has been a pivotal part of his formative years. As Hardik said, his taste buds used to be a lot more craving ones at that time, and Maggi was the lone dish to satiate him.
Pandya is currently leading India in T20I assignments and it looks imminent that the Baroda-born player will officially be given the T20 reins in the near future.
