Marta Fernández was once again one of the leading swimmers in the Paralympic Swimming World Series.

The athlete from Burgos from the Castilla y León Adapted Sports Federation (Fedeacyl) won two gold medals in the three events she took part in (Schwimm- und Sprunghalle at the Europasportpark SSE).

However, the golden metals of the Paralympian were not the highlight of her performance with the Spanish team. The Castilian and Leonese became one of the references in Berlin thanks to the world record of the 50 butterfly, which she beat her own mark in the German pool (46:07).

To his world record was added the gold achieved in the 150 styles with which he debuted and in which he starred in a heart-stopping finish with local swimmer Gina Böttcher, despite the fact that she was competing in another category.

Less spectacular was Marta’s participation in the 50 breaststroke, in which Marta finished eighth and far from the medals. “It will be one of the tests in which we will have to work for the World Cup and the Paris Games, along with the 100 breaststroke,” explains her coach, Raúl Carrasco from Valladolid.

For his part, Luis Huerta could not shine in the Berlin event when he came with physical problems in the triceps of one of his arms that weighed him down in the competition.

The man from Valladolid, who a priori would be one of the clear finalists in the 200 freestyle, was unable to access the final series, while in the 50 and 100 freestyle it was even more difficult. “He has had a complicated year of injuries, and we hope he improves ahead of the World Cup in Manchester,” the technicians of the young swimmer from CTD Río Esgueva report.

The two Fedeacyl swimmers traveled to Berlin together with the technicians Javier Alonso and Víctor Olivar.
