Cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle had a chat with football’s the finest voice Peter Drury on Thursday (June 8) during the 2nd day of the WTC Final between India and Australia.
Both Bhogle and Drury are stalwarts of their own game. Their poetic commentating during the matches enhances the intensity and engages the spectators in the game. The oratory skills and the tweaks of their voice according to the situation of the matches often epitomizes the pinnacle of commentating, and the two of them had a meet finally.
As the horizons of the two most popular games of India converged, it was lovely the way the duo talked about the game and the associated components of life.
Peter Drury says he loves the ebbs and flows of the game and he admitted of enjoying the match at the Oval. The commentator also revealed he wished to see a bit more of Virat Kohli, which was not the case unfortunately as Kohli was dismissed for just 14 runs.
“It’s a beautiful sporting arena, it feels cricket. The sun shining in early June in England, which is special. The Indian supporters absolutely phenomenal. I arrived here in the morning. Steve Smith hits his first two balls for four to a hundred. I get to see a little bit of Virat Kohli, wish I would have seen more, ” Drury said while speaking to Harsha Bhogle.
Drury also distinguished the atmosphere of football and cricket in his own expert manner.
“It’s a different rhythm, but a very particular rhythm. Football has fans singing and chanting. It’s all done and dusted in two hours. This is a rhythm which ebbs and flows for six-seven hours a day. The essence of Test cricket reflects the game itself,” he added.
Indian politician Shashi Tharoor, who was at the Oval, also shared a picture with Peter Drury.

He also revealed he loves his cricket from a distance and feels lucky that he didn’t take up cricket commentary so that he can just enjoy the game in his own way without knowing all the rules and other stuff.
The English commentator said he played cricket at a modest level during his early days. And the football commentator also revealed his favourite club.
“I am a fan of England, and of Kent,” he said, admitting he goes to watch T20 matches of his favourite county side.
