He was also part of the star-studded French side that won the World Cup in 2018. However, on August 2021, his world went shattered when he was arrested in England on rape and sexual assault charges.

Mendy was charged with four counts of rape and one count of sexual assault charges from three different female complainants, all aged over 16, between October 2020 and August 2021.

Following the news he was immediately put in police custody and while he was in prison, the French star was slapped with three more charges of rape.

He was granted bail after a couple of months but the next two years saw Mendy circling the courtroom to find a way out of the case.

Now after almost two years of accusation, the player has seen jurors unanimously clear him of all charges handing him a new ray of life.

How much money Mendy has lost during all these years?

During all these years, the defender has been left ruined fighting to clear his name which has almost led him to bankruptcy.

Following the arrest, Manchester City immediately suspended him from the ranks stopping his salary the following month.

Mendy has had a luxurious lifestyle which quickly caught him up. Due to his accusation, his other earnings also stopped coming, and to find a way he has had to sell assets.

It is understood that he has had to sell his Lamborghini, Audi RS6, Merc GT, and all the other luxury cars as well as a couple of expensive watches for a huge loss to accumulate some money. Even he also lost heavily in sales of his six-bed mansion.

With the defender finding it hard to make ends meet he was forced to close his image rights company after being chased for unpaid tax. In this period, Mendy reportedly lost £1m in a £9m spree.

However, all these efforts now look worthwhile after he was cleared of all the sex and rape offenses. Mendy is now gearing up to restart his football career once again.

He wishes to remain in Europe to repair his lost image. But to take care of his finances at the earliest could seek a move to Saudi Arabia also.
