For fondue, Chäsalp in the hills above Zürich is hard to beat. A lovely farm building, friendly staff and cute rabbits viewable through the windows make this a great place for families, kids, dates, or friends. Visitors from abroad usually love the traditional Swiss vibes.

If you’re feeling particularly hungry, the Fondue Feast allows you to sample a range of fondues — truffle, champagne, chilli, mozzarella, herbs and others. I’ve tried many fondue places across Switzerland over the past few years and this is my favourite.

Tips: book in advance during the winter months. It’s easier to get to with a car from Zürich HB (about 15 mins) — public transport can take up to 35 mins. Avoid eating too much during the day prior to the meal. Go to the gym the next day. Directions
