Bob Saget’s cause of death has been revealed to be a head injury after the Full House star was found dead in a hotel room in January.

The actor, 65, died on January 9 in a hotel room in Orlando, Florida, and his family have revealed his death was down to a head injury sometime before.

His family said in a statement shared with US media outlets: ‘Now that we have the final conclusions from the authorities’ investigation, we felt it only proper that the fans hear those conclusions directly from us.

‘The authorities have determined that Bob passed from head trauma. They have concluded that he accidentally hit the back of his head on something, thought nothing of it and went to sleep. No drugs or alcohol were involved.’

They added: ‘As we continue to mourn together, we ask everyone to remember the love and laughter that Bob brought to this world, and the lessons he taught us all: to be kind to everyone, to let the people you love know you love them, and to face difficult times with hugs and laughter.’

Saget had been much-loved for his role on Full House, on which he played Danny Tanner, a single dad to three daughters.

Tributes flooded in from friends and fellow celebrities after news of his death was revealed, with Jim Carrey tweeting: ‘Beautiful Bob Saget passed away today at 65.

‘He had a big, big heart and a wonderfully warped comic mind. He gave the world a lot of joy and lived his life for goodness’ sake.’

Steve Martin described Saget’s death as a ‘sad day for [the] comedy world’ while Whoopi Goldberg added: ‘Sail on my friend Bob Saget with your huge heart and abject lunacy. My condolences to his daughters & other family.’
