Tyson Fury has taken aim at Oleksandr Usyk, whilst also revealing his respect for Derek Chisora ahead of his return to the ring against the latter this December. Fury looked set for a fight of the ages this winter, with him in talks to take on British rival Anthony Joshua in Cardiff.
However discussions between the two soon broke down, leading to Fury’s team setting up a third bout with old rival Chisora in London instead. One man who was also keen to take on the Gypsy King was Usyk, with the pair both world champions in the heavyweight division.
And whilst the fight is expected to happen in 2023, Fury is less than convinced with the WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO heavyweight champion, claiming the Ukrainian was an unknown before his two recent victories over Joshua. Taking aim at both Usyk and AJ – who he often refers to as the ‘bodybuilder’ – the Englishman said: “May I say, who the hell is Usyk?
“People didn’t know his name until he beat the bodybuilder the other day. He was a little, small heavyweight who wasn’t going to do anything against AJ when Chisora fought him. But then he stepped up and beat the big bodybuilder and now all of a sudden, he’s the killer. I don’t think so.”

“When you’ve got two heavy forces colliding then someone is getting knocked out. If he lands a punch on me, a big swing, I’m getting knocked out. If I land a big swing on him then he’s getting knocked out, so the fans are going to win…
“I will not underestimate Derek Chisora. God forbid I got beat, it won’t be for the fact that I had an injury or I didn’t train hard enough, it would be the fact that I lost to a better man on the night. We’re going to have a fight and that’s it. It’s going to be a good fight too, because he doesn’t shy away and I’m running nowhere, so someone is getting chinned.”
