Frank Warren has advised John Fury to leave the fighting to son Tommy Fury after the famous father’s ringside altercation with Jake Paul last weekend. John was in Tommy’s corner for his six-round exhibition bout against Rolly Lambert when all hell broke loose inside the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai.
Tommy attempted to jump through the ropes to attack Paul after the YouTube star refused to join him in the ring post-fight while John joined in on the action as he ripped off his top and began hurling threats at The Problem Child.
“Come on here,” he ranted. “Forget my son. I’m the king of the bare-knuckle.” As he continued shouting, Paul, armed with a microphone, quipped: “John, nobody likes you. You’re embarrassing.”
And it appears Paul wasn’t the only one thinking that way after the strange turn of events. Tommy’s promoter, Warren, was also left scratching his head at the whole ordeal.
“For me there’s no need for all that nonsense, it wouldn’t have happened in a ring over here, that’s for sure. It gets a little bit out of hand and some of the things that are being said are quite personal and there’s nothing constructive about it.
“If you both want to earn a few quid, you’re going to earn huge money for it, just get the fight on and do it in the ring, that’s where you’ve got to make it happen, all the rest of the nonsense doesn’t matter.
“At the end of the day, as far as John’s concerned, once that bell goes, he’s got to get down from the steps and it’s all up to Tommy.”
