Fury vs Joshua given hope as Warren makes promising pledge

Frank Warren has pledged to get the Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua deal done ‘quickly’ once he receives AJ’s paperwork. Warren is still negotiating terms for the all-British showdown with Eddie Hearn despite Fury’s insistence that the fight is off.

The Gypsy King set Joshua a self-imposed deadline of last Monday in order to sign the final contract for their December 3 clash at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. Hearn affirmed that Joshua would sign on the dotted line once they had ironed out a few undisclosed points of contention and that Monday would be too soon to do so.

As the deadline passed, Fury declared that he would be moving on to another opponent, which has since been revealed to be unranked heavyweight veteran Mahmoud Charr.

But Warren is still holding out hope for Fury vs Joshua and is doing everything he can to get it over the line. Speaking to talkSPORT about the fight’s possibility and AJ’s contract, he said: “I don’t know. It was never going to get signed by five o’clock. That was the ultimatum that Tyson put on, but we’re waiting for it to come back.

Joshua received the bout agreement on September 16 but is currently running the contract through his lawyers to check for any potential issues in the small print.

“I’ve been signing contracts for years. It’s not in my hands, it’s with the legal team. That’s why you hire lawyers,” said Joshua in a video posted to social media on Sunday.

“If you know the history of boxing make sure you get the legal terms right, that’s why you get good management and good lawyers to make sure you get your business right.”

He added: “Of course, I’m going to sign the contract, it’s just with some lawyers at the minute.”
