Molly-Mae Hague insists Tommy Fury is ‘not unprofessional’ after TNT missed weight by 6.8lb for his light-heavyweight bout against Paul Bamba on last weekend’s Floyd Mayweather vs Deji Olatunji undercard.
Despite the fight being billed at 175lb, Fury claims he received a separate contract which gave him greater leeway on the scales. Bamba, meanwhile, was informed that neither man could exceed the light-heavyweight limit and leaked his contract as proof.
Shortly after the weigh-in, Bamba tried to re-negotiate a better deal – as is commonplace when an opponent misses weight – but no agreement could be reached between both parties, leading to the fight being cancelled. In Bamba’s place, Rolly Lambert (15-1-1) was pulled in on short notice to face Fury in a six-round exhibition bout.
Following his weigh-in, Fury received a lot of backlash from many inside the influencer boxing world including Jake Paul and KSI who both branded him as ‘unprofessional’. Responding to those criticisms Hague rushed to her boyfriend’s side.
“I’ve literally watched him make weight for two months and that was the most frustrating thing I’ve ever seen in my whole life. He’s not unprofessional like that, there’s one thing he’s not and that’s unprofessional. I can’t help what happened with the contracts I don’t even know.”
Meanwhile, Paul has sent a message claiming he is prepared to accept Fury’s offer of a fight. The Problem Child took to social media to write: “Dear @FrankWarren, I agree to fight Tommy in Manchester or London in Feb. I’ll come to his country, no more running. His baby is due then & you’ve said it’s no issue. Since John is adamant we’ve agreed, I am giving u 7 days to present a signed contract by Tommy or I’m moving on.”
Fury continues to chase the Paul fight despite two previous dates failing to come to fruition. After the Lambert exhibition, Tommy and his father John both attempted to jump out of the ring and attack The Problem Child while the YouTube star watched on in bemusement.
Paul is understood to be in negotiations with Andrew Tate but is open to meeting TNT in the United Kingdom.
