Game-changing method suggests we’ve been frying bacon incorrectly

Bacon sandwiches on a Sunday morning is a classic way to start the day for many households in Britain.

But, if you want to achieve really crispy bacon, consider boiling it in a frying pan.

Pepper PH on TikTok shared a video which has been watched by nearly half a million people.

The video is titled: “Why you should cook your bacon in water”, and the caption explains: “Cooking bacon in water?? Sounds crazy, but trust us: it’s the best way to get perfectly crisp (and splatter-free!) bacon.”

For the “perfect bacon”, you need to place the rashers into a cold pan.

Then, add just enough water to cover the bottom of the pan and “cook over medium-high until water evaporates”.

“Then lower heat to medium to crisp up bacon” and “render the bacon fat”.

“No fry until crispy”, there’s no time suggestion as to how long this might take, as it depends on what type of bacon you’re cooking.

But the end result should produce “crispy, tender, splatter-free bacon”.

Thousands loved this method, but some struggled to achieve the same crispy bacon.

One commented: “All this did was give me unevenly cooked and not crispy at all bacon.”

Pepper PH replied: “We’ve been doing this trick for years and it’s never failed! If the bacon is not crispy maybe it needed more time in the pan?”
