“I want it to be a place you feel safe in, I want it to be a place where you feel like there are manners and people like one another,” Brooks tells Billboard about his new establishment.

Knowing that there is ongoing drama with many Americans and Bud Light after the beer brand tapped transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney for a social media campaign, Brooks was quick add that his new Nashville spot is going to “serve every brand of beer.”

“We just are. Our thing is this, if you are let into this house, love one another,” he said.

“If you’re an a**hole, there are plenty of other places on lower Broadway.”

On social media, Brooks’ stance was met with support from many of his fans, with one proclaiming, “Y’all, we can keep loving Garth.”

“Garth Brooks has been singing about gay equality since the 1990s! We love him!” another fan added. “It’s no surprise he’s the best-selling musical artist of all time in America.”

Brooks’ colleagues in the country music scene have been divided over Budweiser’s partnership with Mulvaney, who showed off personalized cans emblazoned with her face in April.

Travis Tritt and Kid Rock announced they were boycotting the brand after Mulvaney, who documented her transition from male to female on TikTok thanks to her Day 365 of Girlhood video series, received several cases of Bud Light with the trans activist’s face printed on the side of the cans to celebrate her “womanhood.”

“F*** Bud Light, and f*** Anheuser-Busch,” Rock said alongside a video of himself shooting up several cases of suds.

Meanwhile, Tritt announced he was removing all Anheuser-Busch products from his tour hospitality rider. “I know many other artists who are doing the same,” the singer claimed.

On Instagram, Mulvaney called the cans her “possibly the best gift ever.”

Musician John Rich, of Big & Rich fame, who owns Redneck Riviera on Broadway in Nashville, spoke about his decision to stop selling Bud Light after the backlash against the brand.

“The customers aren’t going to order it,” Rich told Fox News. “I’m not going to stock it … I’ve got to put beer and whiskey and vodkas up here that people want to purchase and they want to support … And brother, I can tell you right now, it’s a vicious attitude toward Bud Light.”

But Rich said he understood why Brooks came out in support of the product.

“I think he probably sees the pain and division that’s going on in the country and wants to try to help that,” the musician told Fox News. “If I know Garth at all, and I know him a little, that’s probably the impetus behind a statement like that. So, good for him. I wish him the best.”

But Rich cautioned Brooks that he might find himself with a lot of unsold bottles of Bud Light.

“If Garth is serving Bud Light in his bar, that’s fine. Garth can do that. Garth might find out not many people are going to order it,” Rich said. “And at the end of the day, you have to put things in your establishment that people are going to purchase if you’re going to run a successful business. So, he might find that out.”

In the wake of its partnership with Mulvaney, analysts at JPMorgan recently warned that Bud Light sales could drop as much as 13% this year.

Last month, Modelo Especial dethroned Bud Light as the best-selling beer in America.
