Gary Neville’s response to Carragher and Keane’s furious row after Chelsea vs Man Utd

Gary Neville posted a hilarious Twitter video providing his reaction to Jamie Carragher and Roy Keane’s extraordinary row following Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United on Sunday. It was an intriguing encounter at Stamford Bridge, and United took a surprise lead in the second-half when Jadon Sancho pounced on a Jorginho error and slotted home.

But Jorginho made up for his error by converting a penalty to equalise after Aaron Wan-Bissaka fouled Thiago Silva in the box and the game ended all square.

Before the match, much of the build-up had centred on interim United manager Michael Carrick’s shock decision to leave Cristiano Ronaldo on the bench, with the five-time Ballon d’Or winner coming on as a substitute on 64 minutes.

Afterwards Keane and Carragher had a furious disagreement over the Portuguese 36-year-old’s role going forward, and whether or not he should start every game and be expected to press.

Neville had the weekend off from punditry duties, but watched the clash at home.

And he posted a video of himself laughing hysterically while Carragher and Keane’s blazing argument went on in the background.

The debate certainly made for blockbuster television, and it all started when Carragher said: “This idea of Ronaldo playing every minute I don’t think is right. I think going away to big games I can understand why Carrick didn’t start him. He’s 36. Ronaldo is not the player he was but I don’t think it should be a big story if he doesn’t start every game.”

Keane shot back: “What’s the game about? Scoring goals! You talk about Mohamed Salah, the game’s about goals Jamie! Ian Rush what did he do? He scored goals.”

He later went on to say: “Ronaldo was never going to get United back to winning titles,” to which Carragher replied incredulously: “So what was the point in signing him then?! He’s 37!”

The two raged on, with both raising their voice and looking incandescent on more than one occasion, while fellow pundit Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink sat back and enjoyed the spectacle.

It remains to be seen whether Ronaldo will start the next game or not, but there is a good chance that it will be Ralf Rangnick who decides, with the German expected to take over in the coming days.

Speaking after what is likely to be his last game in temporary charge, Carrick said: “Pretty much every game, bar two or three, we have set out to press. We did that today and we won balls high up the pitch.
