Gaten Matarazzo Is Afraid Of “Stranger Things” Ending
There are three inevitabilities in life: death, taxes, and the end of Stranger Things.
If you’re a fan of the Netflix smash, you already know the show’s final season is set to film this summer — and at least one of its stars is a little worried about the finality of it all.
During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Gaten Matarazzo got real about how he feels regarding the show’s imminent end — and why he’s a bit afraid about it.
Gaten, who was a teenager when the show first started, said being on Stranger Things was “essential to the growth that I’ve had over all of my teenage years into my 20s. It’s the defining aspect of the past 10 years of my life, practically the past decade.”
“There’s kind of an excitement there because you always want to wrap it up and see how these characters are going to finally develop one last time, and how they’re going to finish their journeys,” he said, before elaborating on the darker side of his concerns.
“There’s, like, a deep fear,” he said. “Not only has it been amazing, but it’s been pretty great job security for a while. Back to freelance.”
Basically, it sounds like Gaten is worried about where his career will go after Stranger Things, as well as grappling with the general nature of finality itself — which, very understandable. Hey, there’s always Broadway, though!
