Gauri Sawant speaks about Sushmita Sen being cast in Taali; says, ‘Thought some South actor or actress would play my role : Bollywood News – Bollywood Hungama

Bollywood actress Sushmita Sen set the internet on fire after she unveiled the first look poster of Taali. While fans are still in awe of her, Gauri Sawant has also shared her reaction to Sen playing her in the upcoming project, For the unversed, Taali is an autobiography of Gauri Sawant, a transgender rights activist.

While talking to Lokmat after the release of the first look poster of Taali, Sawant recalled how she reacted when she was told that Sushmita Sen would play her in the movie. Gauri revealed that initially, she didn’t have a clue as to who would play the titular role. She then added, “I had no idea who would play my role. I thought some south actor or actress would play my role.”

She further added, “When I was told Sushmita Sen’s name, I laughed. Her Chunri Chunri song kept coming to my mind. I really couldn’t believe that she would be playing my role at first. But after signing contracts, I was convinced.”  Concluding the same, she said, “It is a very big thing to make a biopic, especially on the life of a transgender and that too Sushmita Sen is playing my role.”

Apart from the interview, the transgender rights activist also showered love on the Bollywood diva. Giving a token of appreciation, Gauri shared a group picture featuring her with Sushmita Sen on her social media handle. In Marathi, Sawant saluted the actress while saying that “it will be a great honour” for her community.

In the first poster of Taali, Sushmita can be seen dressed in a maroon and green saree with a large maroon bindi on her forehead. The web series will be helmed by Marathi director Ravi Jadhav.
