Joining the team who were going to be counting the gulls, leader Natalie Taylor explained: “For every nest that you go past, you can click on your tally.
“Then what you are going to do is use a can of spray paint and spray close to the nest. There are chicks out there at the moment, eggs as well, so you need to move swiftly, so we are not upsetting the gulls too much.”
As they made their way down to the site, Ellie was joined by Bridget Works, who had been counting the gulls for 25 years.
She explained: “Gulls can be quite aggressive when they are defending their nests, and one of their defences is to evacuate their bowels, and they will poo on you.”
