He went on: “I can’t believe that Lawrence is getting his knickers in a twist about this.
“And Tesco will remind you are not chosen by the Government, they’re owned by their shareholders and indeed their customers who go there.
“You’re both absolutely pathetic getting wound up about this.
“And in terms of the Covid passport, Father Christmas is clearly a joke, isn’t it?
“Like we have in lots of these adverts for Christmas.
“If you don’t like it, don’t shop there. Fair enough.”

Tesco shoppers who are anti-vaxxers have vowed to ‘boycott’ Tesco after the supermarket giant featured a fully vaccinated Santa in its Christmas advert.
The scene in question is when Father Christmas shows up to Border Control with his Covid passport with a green tick and the word ‘vaccinated’.
It has sparked a mass backlash on social media.
