Kirsty Gallacher confirmed on Friday night that she would be taking a break from GB News after she discovered a tumour in her ear. The presenter, who usually co-hosts the Great British Breakfast shared the news with her Instagram followers.

She penned: “During the summer I discovered I have a tumour in the inner canal of my right ear.

“Thankfully, it’s benign and not hugely detrimental to my normal life.

“However, the tumour has caused severe tinnitus which makes it very difficult to sleep.

“Sadly my 3am starts at GB News, compounded by sleep deprivation, are exacerbating my symptoms.”

Kirsty’s followers were quick to wish the presenter well, with Good Morning Breakfast host Charlotte Hawkins leading the way.

Charlotte wrote: “Oh no, so sorry to hear that, sending love.”

While Alison Bender wrote: “Health is EVERYTHING such a good decision, we all need to start listening to our bodies more.”

“Great decision, health and family before anything else,” Grant tweeted.

Vince added: “I wish you a speedy recovery. You will be sorely missed a huge talent and keeping @SimonMcCoyTV in check.”
